Welcome to the
International Primary School
Mannheim

From 2025/2026 on we are planning to open the International Primary School Mannheim* as a school that prepares children for the challenges of a globalised world. The pupils will learn 50 % in German and 50 % in English - the acquisition of the English language will happen in a playful and authentic way - guided by native English speakers.

We start with an entry level for children from the age of 5 and offer reliable all-day lessons. Our school combines the Baden-Württemberg curriculum with the internationally recognised IB Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) to meet the needs of both local and international families.
We cordially invite you to find out more about our school concept at one of our information evenings!

  • Who can apply?

The bilingual primary school is aimed at children from the age of 5, starting with an entry level. This entry level serves as a transition from kindergarten to primary school and emphasises the acquisition of linguistic and personal skills. However, entry to primary school is also possible from year 1. As a public school, we also accept applications from families who do not have their place of residence in the city of Mannheim.

  • How many children are there per class?

The primary school is designed as a two-form entry facility, which means that there will be two classes per year group. Each class will accommodate a maximum of 24 children in order to ensure individual care and support for the pupils. German and English-speaking teachers will be supported by teaching assistants in order to provide individualised support for our pupils.

  • Where is the school location?

From the 2025/2026 school year, our school and Privatgymnasium Mannheim will be located in Besselstraße 22, 68163 Mannheim.

  • What is the daily routine?

The following is an example of the daily schedule for Year 1. The basic daily schedule is the same for all grades - only adjustments are made between the compulsory timetable and the afternoon programme. The children can be brought in from 7.30 am and are supervised until the start of lessons at 8.15 am. From 15:15-16:00, the children can choose an extra-curricular programme within the compulsory all-day programme. We offer a choice between sporting, artistic and social activities. If required, the children can also be registered for voluntary afternoon supervision from 16:00-17:00 (Fridays from 13:15-16:00).

School as a living space

As an all-day school, we see it as our task to offer our pupils a reliable everyday structure and optimal conditions for sustainable learning. In addition to the break park, our pupils also have access to open spaces.

Teaching guarantee

If lessons are cancelled because a teacher is ill or on a training course, for example, this can have a negative impact on pupil performance. To avoid such negative consequences, we at the International Primary School Mannheim offer a teaching guarantee.
